Zachary MacDonald Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship has been founded by the Hampstead Youth Lacrosse organization to honor the memory of Zachary MacDonald. On August 15th 2009, the summer before he was to start 6th grade at Hampstead Middle School, Zachary tragically passed away in a dirt bike accident while vacationing with his family. Zachary was the youngest of four and the only son to Ann Marie and Paul MacDonald. He was a member of the HMS ski club, HASB minor league baseball and Hampstead Lightning Lacrosse. Even at such a young age, Zachary had a passion for life. Thanks to the outpouring in our community, Zachary’s memory lives on. This scholarship helps to preserve for the MacDonald Family their connection with Zachary. It gives them courage for the long haul and builds their faith.

A $1000 scholarship will be awarded to one male and one female high school senior who will be attending college in the fall.                        

To be eligible:

• Must be a current resident of Hampstead, NH or a Pinkerton Academy senior

• Must have been a member / player of the HYLA organization

• Complete the HYLA Zachary MacDonald Scholarship application

• Write a 250 word essay on why you feel that you are deserving of the Zachary MacDonald Memorial Scholarship. Please include values, lessons, and passions you honor and exhibit in your daily life learned through the support of your family, your coaches and mentors, and your participation in HYLA and other activities throughout your youth.

All entries must be submitted to the Hampstead Youth Lacrosse organization by May 1st. The HYLA scholarship subcommittee will review and decide upon recipients. Recipients will be notified in June.
